Episode #102 – Surviving Chaos with Anarchy: A Guide to Principled Living

Recorded January 23, 2024

Embracing Anarchy During A Day of Errands

Today, I devoted time to pondering various philosophical and societal topics. While navigating the routine tasks of daily life, I contemplated the importance of living a moral life amidst society’s chaos. This blog post embodies a detailed exploration of these reflections, aspiring to motivate others to embrace their values in the present rather than viewing them as a distant ideal.

The Strength of Diversity

One of the first thoughts that crossed my mind was the incredible power of diversity. Engaging with individuals from different countries, genders, and intellectual backgrounds on Twitter made me appreciate its enriching effect. Diversity is not just a buzzword but a core strength that should be celebrated and utilized to build stronger communities. Unfortunately, most of the modern diversity is not voluntary. Much of it lacks the freedom of association aspect crucial to diversity.

The Dance of Anarcho-Capitalism

Much of my contemplation has been devoted to comprehending and clarifying anarcho-capitalism. Its fusion of principles and practicality poses a challenge for many to grasp. I have likened the core principles of anarcho-capitalism to scientific equations such as E=mc² or the gravitational constant. These principles must be validated and applied to real-world scenarios, akin to how engineers utilize mathematical equations to construct structures. Anarcho-capitalism is a philosophical principle, not an ideology such as communism.

The Non-Aggression Principle

Anarcho-capitalism is rooted somewhat in the non-aggression principle (NAP), which upholds that initiating force is always immoral and self-defense is the only morally justifiable use. This principle serves as the guiding light for ethical convictions and actions. Nonetheless, its real-life applications can be intricate, especially when delineating the boundaries of self-defense. The classic Indiana Jones scene, in which he shoots a sword-wielding attacker instead of engaging in combat, beautifully encapsulates this complexity. That’s a dissection for another blog.

Living Anarchy Now

One of the most important realizations is that anarchy is not a futuristic utopia but a condition we can live in now. Just as Christians live their values despite societal opposition, anarchists can live their principles amidst a world that often contradicts them. This involves making practical decisions that align with one’s ethical stance, even if it means facing challenges and criticisms. Stop deferring your happiness until evil ceases to exist.

Practical Applications: Veganism and Ethical Living

My vegan lifestyle powerfully expresses the non-aggression principle. Despite criticism, I strive to minimize harm in every possible way, living as ethically as possible within society’s constraints. To the best of my ability, I am the ultimate pro-lifer.

Navigating Societal Norms

Living a moral life often involves balancing personal values with societal expectations and legal regulations. By fulfilling tax obligations and adhering to rules, we can prevent larger-scale harm or conflicts. Finding strategies for maneuvering within the system while upholding our ethical principles is essential. The goal is to act as accessible as possible despite the challenges and to work towards freeing as many others as possible. It would be disheartening to pass away before we could have a positive impact for others to benefit from.

A Call to Live Your Values Now

In conclusion, the essence of my reflections is a call to action: live your values now. Whether you identify as an anarchist, libertarian, or simply someone with strong ethical principles, postponing the practice of these values is not beneficial. Strive to align your daily actions with your principles, even in small ways, to achieve a sense of contentment and purpose.
